Support shaped around you

Seven ways we can walk alongside you. Each one starts with understanding what matters most to you and what you want to work towards.

Mentorship and personal growth

Mentorship is at the heart of NorthStar Ability Support. We believe that with the right encouragement, guidance and opportunities, every individual can continue to learn, grow and discover their potential.

Through a supportive and encouraging approach, we work alongside participants to build confidence, strengthen self-belief, develop everyday life skills and take meaningful steps towards their personal goals.

Our mentoring approach focuses on recognising individual strengths, encouraging decision-making, exploring new interests and celebrating progress along the way. Whether a participant is working towards greater independence, building social confidence or trying something new, we aim to provide the encouragement and support they need to move forward at their own pace.

We do not believe in doing everything for someone. We believe in supporting people to discover what they can do for themselves.

Daily living support

We provide personalised assistance with everyday activities, encouraging participants to develop practical skills and greater independence in their daily lives.

Support may include assistance with household tasks, meal preparation, daily routines and other agreed activities. Wherever possible, we encourage active participation, helping individuals build confidence and develop skills that support their independence.

Community access and participation

We support participants to access their community, explore their interests and take part in activities and experiences that matter to them.

From attending appointments and visiting local places to participating in community events and exploring new opportunities, we aim to make community involvement more accessible, enjoyable and meaningful.

Our focus is on encouraging confidence, choice, independence and a genuine sense of belonging.

Social support and connection

Meaningful relationships and social connections play an important role in wellbeing and quality of life.

We support participants to engage socially, explore their interests, build communication skills and develop connections within their community. Whether through individual outings, shared interests or community activities, we encourage participants to feel comfortable, included and confident being themselves.

Group sessions and activities

Our group sessions provide opportunities for participants to connect with others, explore shared interests, learn new skills and enjoy meaningful experiences in an inclusive environment.

Activities can encourage social interaction, teamwork, communication, confidence and community participation. We aim to create welcoming opportunities where participants can build relationships, discover interests and celebrate their individual strengths.

Before and after school support

For children and young people

Depending on individual needs and agreed support arrangements, assistance may include support with morning or afternoon routines, participation in recreational activities, social interaction and the development of everyday life skills.

We encourage children and young people to explore their interests, build positive relationships and develop confidence in their abilities in a safe, respectful and supportive environment.

School holiday programs

For children and young people

Our school holiday programs aim to provide meaningful opportunities for children and young people to stay engaged, explore new interests, build friendships and develop confidence outside the school environment.

Our goal is to create more than just a holiday activity. We want to provide opportunities for connection, personal growth, enjoyment and meaningful participation in the community.

Not sure which support fits?

Tell us a little about yourself or the person you care for and we will talk it through together. Support can combine more than one of these.
